Trained in classical singing by Sheila McCarthy and graduating from the Full-Time Acting course of the Gaiety School in 1997, Russell has since taught singing for actors on the full-time course at the Gaiety School and elsewhere alongside a successful career as an actor in Irish film, television and theatre.
Much of Russell’s work has involved singing, and he has musically directed, composed and arranged for many of the musical theatre shows in which he has been involved, as well as coaching his fellow actors in vocal technique.
Alongside his broad experience of the classical technique Russell is also schooled in the less formal yet highly compatible Roy Hart vocal technique which, like Meisner, also aims to strike at the very heart of spontaneity between the actor and their counterpart.
